Ski holidays Freudenstadt – lively spa resort in the Black Forest!

Freudenstadt

Where the Black Forest presents itself at its best, lies the famous spa resort Freudenstadt. This quaint town in the south-western part of the Baden-Württemberg is especially know for it's magnificent market place, the largest in entire Germany. The vast arcade walkways with the pretty archways running all around the square, are ideal for going on a shopping stroll, even when the weather is not so nice. Freudenstadt is embedded perfectly into the soft hilly landscape of the Black Forest and even stretches as far as the mountain Kniebis, which runs into a high-plateau at 960 m altitude. The fascination of almost urban skiing, cross-country and tobogganing so close together, is what makes this region so popular.

Over and above the winter sports options, the area around Freudenstadt is a great place for hiking all year round. The hiker's guide "Freudenstadt" offers a large number of great tours to choose from. Gourmets will enjoy great cuisine, especially as the region is known for some of the best eateries in Germany. The small village of Baiersbronn, not far from Freudenstadt even has two restaurants which can boast each 3 Michelin stars - a credit which can only be found once in Germany. Freudenstadt offers holiday quality on all levels!

Black Forest

Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest cherry cake), Cuckoo clocks and the "Bollenhut" (traditional women's hat) - all this is typical for the Black Forest region and enjoys world-wide recognition. 160 km long and approx. 60 km wide is the expanse of this central German mountain range, covering 11,400 m² in close proximity to Switzerland and France. The Black Forest, with its more than 70 peaks over 1,000 m altitude, is the highest of the German central mountain ranges. Sporty Alpine skiers, expectant cross-country goers, loves of good wine and cuisine and all those looking for some relaxation and pampering, are welcome to experience the benefits of the Black Forest.
