Cross-country Sweden

Scandinavia is know as the cradle of cross-country skiing. Nordic winter sports fans will find perfect conditions here, as well as beautiful tracks to explore. Cross-country ski and hiking trails lead through thick forests, across frozen lakes and through picturesque mountain ranges. Sweden is know as a popular host to various championships and races in the Nordic discipline. The most well-known event is the Vasa race, which is one of the largest cross-country race events worldwide. On a total of 90 km, the participants are lead from Sälen to Mora.

The longest trail network worldwide can also be found in Sweden. This is to be found in and around Funäsdalen. In total there are 300 km of trails available to ski. With the Nordic Ski Centre pros are also well catered to with an advanced cross-country infrastructure. And the like it: the Swedish and Norwegian national teams train here regularly. The season here is extra long: it extends from mid November until the end of May.

The nickname "Guldbyn" (golden village) belongs to Åsarna. The resort, only approx. 40 from Åre, is the home to various ski professionals. Further it offers 72 km of cross-country trails.

The modern ski station of Östersund offers 89 km of trails. These include not only the normal tracks, but also racing tracks, dog trails and some stretches are illuminated. There are not only cross-country lessons to take part in here, but also waxing courses.

Located almost at the border to Norway lies the small, yet well-equipped ski area Idre Fjäll. This is not only and Alpine skier's paradise. The resort is known as the official training area for the Swedish national team. Here are 62 km of cross-country trails to be explored, all leading through a magnificent landscape.
