Ski holidays Mürren – Panoramic village in the Jungfrau-Region!

Mürren

The mountain village of Mürren, in the Bernese Oberland, lies in the upper half of the Lauterbrunnen valley, on a plateau at 1,650 m altitude and is herewith the highest, permanently inhabited settlement in the Bernese Canton. Thanks to its location, the resort stands out with its breathtaking view of the opposite-facing rocky terrace of the well-known mountain trio of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. In order to reach this terrific viewing point, you'll have to take a lift - either the lift or gondola when heading up from Lauterbrunnen or the Schilthorn lift when heading up from the neighbouring resort of Stechelberg.

Mürren itself is a traffic-free resort and, once up top, you'll have to continue on foot. Don't worry, though: the paths in Mürren are short. The Walser settlement, with its classical chalets, beams with the genuine charm of a mountain village and even though it's home to under 500 residents, village life is quite vibrant, with diverse festivals and sporting events, such as the popular Inferno races.

Active travellers will find numerous leisure activities besides skiing on the Schilthorn. The Alpine Sports Centre in Mürren provides you with the opportunity to keep your adrenaline going or put it to rest. Choose from various activities such as ice skating on the open-air artificial ice rink, tobogganing, or exploring the winter hiking trails of the area.

Jungfrau Region

Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau are, along with the famous Eigernordwand, the hallmark and high mountains of the Jungfrau region. Situated in the heart of the Bernese Oberland, the area stretches from Interlaken to the peak of the Jungfrau Massif. An impressive mountain landscape and crystal-clear lakes attract thousands of tourists each year to the famous holiday resorts. The region is home to several treasures, such as the "Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn", with the longest ice flow in the Alps (22 km), which is a UNESCO world cultural heritage site. Just as famous is the restaurant "Piz Gloria" on the Schilthorn (2,970 m), which served as a backdrop for the James Bond Film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". The "Top of Europe" is the highest train station in Europe and is situated at 3,454 m. The Jungfrau region is especially known as an Eldorado for skiers, snowboarders and hiking fans.
